Women’s Weaving Collective

We support women in our communities to share knowledge of the vanishing traditional weaving techniques of the Tandroy people.

In partnership with Fonds d'Intervention pour Développement, Aina’Ampela, and Madagascar Classic Collection, we provide training, equipment, and facilities for women to practice the traditional art of Tandroy weaving.

The finished cloth is used for many rites and rituals and is a unique piece of Tandroy culture. By passing down this vital knowledge the older generation are keeping the essential tradition of the Tandroy alive and giving livelihoods to young women.

Our partnership with Aina’Ampela and Madagascar Classic Collection also provides income for weavers and ensures stability for their families.

Aina’Ampela is an award winning design project by Aina Luciana Rasoloarisoa approaching fashion through a combination of aesthetics, sustainability and social responsibility.
